You might know him from one of Moneoa's singles "Thato" taken from her latest Album "Coming from going to" or from Deep Xcape's "Change" on Soul Candi's Deep House Chronicles. I can put my head on the block any day, Without a doubt Shatti is one of the best male vocalist in the industry.
A guy from a small town of Sasolburg, he was born and raised in the dusty streets of Zamdela. This is where he started his career and started singing from an early age. He had the influence from home and mostly church.
"Music for me is God's gift and its something that has been with me for years. I grew up in a family where my mom used to sing in church choirs and my sister used to sing too, you'd find us all singing in the house [Laughs] that's the thing that developed the passion in my heart and I realized I can really do this." - Shatti
Shatti is known for gracing House Music with his beautiful voice, what you don't know is he has done other genres too, He started music doing Kwaito.
"Music is a journey itself, you try different stuff till you realize this Kwaito thing is not working for me I'm not good. Music itself has always been with me, I decided let me try something else because at home we loved church so Gospel was just close to me."
Believe it or not he also used to be into Rap music back in the days.
Shatti has been around for some time, He also did some work with Dj/Producer Paso Doble a very good friend of Black Coffee. He engaged Shatti with the people from U.S like Poly Rhythm who also did some work with Shatti.
And over the years in 2007 Shatti happened to meet a now friend of his from Canada, Justin Marchello, an agent who introduced Shatti to the international music world. Justin Connected Shatti with Alessandro Tarallo, an Italian Producer/DJ From Napoli.
"I sent Alex some of my vocals, and funny thing is the vocals were in Zulu, I had to explain the lyrics in English [Laughs] he was fascinated with the idea, liked it a lot. He bought to the idea, well he liked my vocals a lot." The first guy to introduce Shatti to Traxsource.com back in the days. Then came guys like Francesco Cofano in Milan who also did work with Shatti to push his brand from that side of the world.
"I've come across a lot of challenges in this industry, its hard to make it without money. We all know you need money to live. Some people do it for the fame some do it for money but I do it for the love of music."
"I believe that God gave us different talents and I'm grateful for the talent he gave me."
Shatti is a down to earth, spiritual, humble and a very soulful guy. And we believe he has a lot more to offer the world through his music. Look out for the second part of our journey into getting to know Shatti's passion and hustle.
